Atlantic Technological University, 2022 Summary: This study investigates the phenomenon of ‘Identification’ in film and drama. While watching a film either at home, on a TV set or in a big cinema, a psychological event takes place within the mind of the viewer. This change or psychological event has to do with how we, the viewers, ‘identify’ with the characters or actors within the story as it unfolds on the screen. Theorists have found that, firstly, there are processes within the person, and secondly, that these processes have links to cultural beliefs within the society where the viewer lives or participates.
